How to to research a good Mortgage Broker

Hi,
Just after some advice, looking to get a mortgage and via reading up it seems a broker is the way forward but how would you find a good mortgage broker? Is it just a case of ringing brokers up and see who comes up with the best rate. Or is there away of researching.
Thanks

Ask friends and relatives for a recommendation where possible.I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. You would be surprised at how few people go for the cheapest rate once you discuss all of the options available to people.
Cheapest rate = more demand. More demand = longer processing times. Cheapest rate can also mean higher fees. Great if you are going for a £400k mortgage, but probably not so great if you are going for a £40k mortgage. Fixed/tracker/overpayments/offset/fees/timeframes - some of the factors that are important to applicants. Thats before you start looking at criteria that the lender has.
Read reviews, have a chat with the broker. Do you like them? Do you trust that they know what they are doing?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Sorry to latch onto this thread! Do all mortgage brokers charge a fee or is an initial conversation generally free? I'm new to this going into unchartered territory. All information is helpful.0

My company has a £395 flat rate fee only payable on full mortgage offer.
We get our leads from an online comparison site but I prefer to get my own leads from people who have used me before and would vouch for the work I put in.I am a Mortgage & Protection Broker

Here is help to find a broker
www.vouchedfor.co.uk - put in your postcode and a load of testimonials will come up for brokers in your area
www.unbiased.co.uk - similar to above but without testimonials and I don't think its as good
www.cherryfind.co.uk - a specialist mortgage broker website
that should get you going on your hunt for a broker, but don't forget traditional methods like yell.com and Thomson.I am a Mortgage Adviser
