Remortgage and solicitors

We've had our remortgage agreed with HSBC (offered and accepted on 2nd July) - it's now 'with the team that process the next stage who will be in touch soon with an update' and has been for 10 days. We've asked what the next stage is and have been told that they are working on it. Just wondering if for a remortgage (same lender but borrowed further amount) what we need to do with regards to the legal side i.e. do we need to engage a solicitor? The package included free legal costs if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance

If it includes free legals costs you shouldn't have to engage your own solicitor. Its very shabby of them not to have explained things fully to them when you applied for the mortgage. If you have a copy of your mortgage offer it should give more details on there, completion on remortgages is a bit quicker than purchases.

If its a remortgage with the same lender which it is in your case, you will not need to engage a solicitor on your behalf. HSBC will sort it all out for you.
