SA302 / Year overview name difference

Hi all,
My wife is from a country that uses the French "Epouse..." naming system in her passport.
Her surname, as on her passport, is 4 separate words, with spaces in between.
The first problem is that many of the online forms don't allow more than 1 space in a surname. Anyway we went ahead and got a DIP from Halifax, by replacing the spaces with hyphens. The phone adviser said this would be fine.
Now we are collecting documents together and printing her SA302 and Yearly tax overviews.
The SA302's have her full name on the top, with spaces, as in her passport.
But the tax year overviews have omitted the everything from "Epouse" onwards.
The UTR is the same on each document, and the figures match up. She has recently paid the £145 stated, but for some reason the payment hasn't been allocated yet and the overview still shows this balance to pay.
Do we have anything to worry about?

Did you ask Halifax before getting a DIP from them?
Rule number one, anything out of the ordinary, check with the lender beforehand or get your broker to check if you are using one.

Some lenders can be really fussy about things like this and others can be quite relaxed. But the best people to answer are the people lending the money.

Yes I called the Halifax mortgage line when filling in the website form. They said it wouldn't be a problem to:
1) Replace spaces with hyphens
2) Initialise "Epouse" - otherwise the surname wouldn't fit in the box
3) Put other variations of the surname as aliases. The Halifax form does allow you to put many different names, which is handy because the bank and electoral register use different variations.
The adviser then said that it could all be explained during the full application.
I am going to call HMRC today to see if they can update the name on the Tax Year Overview to match the SA302. We've tried to change the name using the HMRC portal, but it says that spaces are invalid characters, which is strange because the current surname has a space in it.

Don't waste your time with HMRC. The UTR proves one is the other. See what Halifax say first.

Thanks, but I already called them.

Found out that the SA302 uses the name held by HMRC, but the tax overview uses the name on the Government Gateway account. I figured this out myself in the end - HMRC didn't have a clue why there was a difference.

HMRC have said they are going to issue paper copies in the post, both using the shorter version without the "Epouse....". So no more difference between the 2 documents, but not quite matching up to the full name on the passport.

The alternative is to change the HMRC name to the full name, but the system will only take it if hyphenated. This might be the way forward. SA302 will be hyphenated, but overview will have spaces. At least both documents will have all names.

And the £145 payment won't be allocated until next January, but I have a payment receipt to confirm it's been paid.
