You can read the many posts on here where unfortunate borrowers have spent three hours in branch to then be told no. Those who have been given the wrong information by bank staff. Those who have chosen the wrong lender because they don't know what they don't know.I am a Mortgage Broker

Oh right.
Tbh we have never thought of going with a broker probably because we wouldn't know where to start finding one. And also I have always associated Brokers with paying fees to them etc so thought it would work out more expensive.0 -
You have gone direct to the Bank and are already on here because what you have been told does not make sense to you.

I assume you have done a search and barclays have come up as the best lender for you?
Theyare mostly fine but if you have kids or pensions deductions even debts in the background they are not great.
Good brokers do charge fees but you pay for a reason. As I said in another post if your brakes on your car go you don't just decide to take it to the local shell garage you'd go and see a mechanic and youw ould pay for that service.
Back to the OP do you know what lender your broker was applying to for the DIP?I am a Mortgage & Protection Broker
