But of course!0

Thank you JamesO, that was really interesting! :T0

MrsL, I've seen at (too) close hand what lives in heather and I'd be too paranoid to ever drink tea made from it :eek:0

You could put some in the garden and cover it with fleece Mar and use that for tea, just enjoy the free range stuff to look at!0

Looks like we have some really cold weather in the offing for the next week or so, time to check preps for maybe not being able to get out and about quite so easily, stock levels need looking at and perhaps replenishing before it gets cold enough to snow!0

Bought a couple of these (88p each), with a view to using them in the event of a power cut.
I have a 20,000mAh power bank, so, using both units, I should get ~ 8 hours out of a full charge. :cool:0 -
I'm getting extra on my home shopping delivery and an extra bag of coal. Hope to god we don't have a long power cut as the freezer is packed full. My plan for that eventuality is to haul everything out and take down to my daughter's as she has a spare freezer.0

And I'm travelling northwards, and though there's 3 adults in the house we're not going to be able to cook together, and there's power tools all over the kitchen apparently, and its a cold house so the heating hasn't been on ... and challenging the illogic of a lot of this isn't possible right now because of various unrelated things. I swear, if I get too cold, I'll just bung some extra cash. In the meantime, in my own house, the thermostat will be set high enough to come on if there's a danger of it getting really cold.
I'm just not feeling it right now2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
S will get the brunt of the cold and unless they are preppers or have lived up north, then many will be totally unprepared. Main thing to watch for is unexpected slipping on hard surfaces. Broken bones are far worse than any deprivations. So far the freeze is very bang on.
I am keeping several electric heaters on all day, as I want to keep the house fabric warm. Once cold the fabric takes days to warm up. I am using my lakeland towel rail plus other thermostatic heaters. Guess what, there is a chronic unavailability of stove pellets because `green` power stations have gone online plus the weather in Russia is too bad for harvesting wood. Its a europe wide pellet shortage. I have a few bags left in my pellet stash but will need to be frugal with them, so am going around the house and closing off all the vents today. It will be a potch opening and closing them depending if I put the stove on but there is a considerable draught through the main stove intake, which opens in the floor0
