Believe me, pineapple, if Cousin (who was also present) had got to the phone before her mother, that chap would've had his ears blistered clean across the planet - she was FURIOUS and has a mouth on her.
During last week, when the folks were working on clearing the bungalow (and I was in the city doing my day job) a couple came walking up the garden path as if they owned the place. We were working with both front and back doors open and Dad spoke to them as he thought they might be council officers (it's rented from the council).
Nope, they admitted that they just wanted to be nosey. He told them to please go away in his mild polite way, and they started to walk around the gable end (one of a pair of semi-detached bungalows) and into the back garden...........! He had to hustle them out of there quite firmly.
It's amazing what some people think is appropriate behaviour when family are clearing the home of a dead relation. Anyway, the notice weeks were still running, so they'd no business being there at all.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I use to get realy fed up with nuisence call's, one day I had 4 call's,one after another, I said to other half if that phone goes again, I don't care who it is I'm going to have some fun, Well as expected the phone went again about 10 minuets later, I answered it and before they could say anything, I said 'Hello this is D**** Domanatrix, your pain is my gain, how can I inflect punishment on you?' well it went very quite and then they put the phonr down on me and I acctualy got 2 whole weeks free from the pests.£71.93/ £180.000

:T Nice one, boult!
I don't seem to get these type of calls but my pensioner parents get several a day. Their home had two separate landlines (different numbers, one for brother's business) and if one rings, the other goes a few seconds later. It's very very annoying.
In the course of my job, I get to talk to hundreds of people each month and what we're hearing back is that some people have chosen to give up their landlines and go to mobiles only, largely because of nuisance callers.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Trouble is they ring the mobiles too. I don't answer an unknown number any more, I google the number and they are nearly all spam.I wanna be in the room where it happens0

Curiousity/politeness always gets me answering the phone when it goes - but it gets put straight down again the second I realise it's not for me.
I will make a downright rude comment (usually to effect of "I don't speak to thieves") and then bash the phone straight down hard (ie loudly) any time I get one of those thieves phoning up purporting to be from Microsoft about my having a non-existent computer fault.
There was one particular firm that were making a right nuisance of themselves for many months after I moved in - ringing up and asking for "Mrs same surname every time (not mine or a previous owners)". Considering that that was a time when I was busily gutting this house and having to deal with nfh making a nuisance of themselves in quite a variety of ways - you can imagine just how rude I was being to them some months down the line. Thankfully - that did stop eventually...probably because they realised I was only one step away from literally blasting their eardrums off with some very piercing noise....:cool:0 -
I have a friend who blows a very loud whistle into the ear of such callers. They don't call back. My son asks them if they are single, what they look like, and other nosy personal things along that line. They always hang up. He thinks he's so funny.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

You'd be surprised what the local vicar/pastor/delete as applicable might be getting up to. I've never forgotten one reading the Riot Act to someone I knew about taking part in an illicit relationship (ie unfaithfulness). A couple of years down the line = you guessed it....:rotfl:(pot kettle black as to what I read about them).0

Right at the end it gives the rather more measured view of the Met OfficeIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
