Hi all,
need some help for my gf here, she went to college in Scotland approx 3 years ago and stayed only for the first 3 months as her father passed away and if she left at the time it would be OK.
she has received a letter to her mums house in Scotland saying she owe 2k and will be taken from her pay.
the college advised she didnt have to worry at the time and it will be written off but she has nothing in writing saying so!
any advice, is this a valid debt?

Always, always insist on getting anything to do with debt or debt write off, in writing, then you have proof.
As it stands it's your words against there's, however, they must supply proof of the debt when asked, so possibly sending the provit letter may help ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Are you sure it was the student loan written off or is it the tuition fees that the college said wouldn't be due? I wouldn't have thought the college would be able to write off the student loan as it doesn't come directly from them.0
