Hair health recommendations?

I have very thick hair, even now I have had compliments on how thick it is (im a male by the way)

But mostly down to extreme anxiety I ahve been losing hair for 10 years, slowly but in some ways its not bad down to my age (33)

It used to be I had a fringe so thick and long that after 4-6 weeks the hair pretty much covered my eyes, and even within a week I had sideburns that were somewhere between Elvis muttonchop style to so long it was one long sideburn from left to right despite shaving every day.

Even now my sideburns grow fast but not to same way, if I shave them off totally (as in to the level if you wear glasses just above the line) within about 3 days I have a stubbly sideburn,

So thats how fast my hair grows, except my front of it.

Onto hair health for about the past 5 maybe 6 years I notice whenever I wash my hair I get random pieces come out, not clumps its more like when you pet a dog and have a few pieces on it.

I normally wash my hair every day, not sure if its doing more damage or not but I always leave shampoo on for about 10 minutes then wash it off, and often similar amount of time for conditioner.

Went 3 days without washing as was away from home, my hair was itching a lot and loads of dandruff falling out and it felt so dry but at no point did I lose hair.

When I came home I had a shower and noticed the tiny strands of hair on my hand.

Is it that washing weakens it especially during the shower?

What can I do to improve it?

I doubt if you can do much really. Its down to how you are born. My hair falls out as well. I find quite a bit in the plug hole and vacuum cleaner. Its normal for me.

If it isn't dyed or heat damaged then its just the way we are. :)

I don't see any point in leaving shampoo on at all and 10 minutes is a long time for basic conditioner.

Shampoo is pointless leaving on.. if your hair is clean anyway and you are just washing it because you like to then there is no oil to breakdown so rinse it straight off.. conditioner I leave a couple of minutes at most.

You are supposed to lose hair continuously .. it's perfectly normal.

Diet can play a bigger part than care routine.

One of the reasons your head was itching was there was lose hair on your scalp.

Hair grows for a set time (not length) then falls out.

Thus food that encourages rapid growth results in longer hair.

To name a few, vitamin A (carrots) potassium (bananas) vitamin B (eggs) iron (spinach) omega-3 fatty acids (nuts) are needed for hair and scalp health.

Also consider that as you get older (from 20 onwards) the level of testosterone in your body levels out then starts to decline - thus effecting hair thickness/texture/length

    Perfectly normal.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
