Do you need to make a sauce? Could you just sprinkle grated cheese over the dish and melt it in the oven or under the grill? I do this because as a single person it's not worth making a sauce when only a small quantity is needed.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Am I the only one who doesn't have (and has never had) a microwave?
My parents have had a microwave since the 80s (it was as big as a crt tv, one person could barely lift it)
They can be a lifesaver and save a lot of electric, make more food than you need you can freeze it and mcirowave it, make a meal and are full up reheat it easily.
I was without one for a few months when I moved and it was a nightmare reheating things, and though some things came out better reheated in oven it took a lot of electric and a long time to do.0 -

I've had one (not the same one) for over 25 years and it's one of the items I'd replace as soon as it packed up.
I find it invaluable for defrosting & reheating mash, chilli, bolognaise and raw meat (when I'm in a hurry and haven't remembered in time) etc from the freezer and for heating soup, baked beans etc.
When we have a 'proper' dinner I usually plate 4 meals (there's 2 of us) and reheat the remaining 2 the day after.
I do find that new potatoes don't seem to reheat as uickly as the other items though.
I don't use it for cooking.
And I find it excellent for making sauces as per the title of the thread.0 -

Cheese and low cal is hard to do !!!
However you can bulk out quiches or sauces with cottage cheese to lessen the blow.0
