NatWest Application Declined but Excellent Credit Score

  • Enlist the help of a broker who can find out more through BDM's dedicated support lines etc.

I had one recently with NatWest were the guy was earning a 6 figure salary had a 999 credit score and was only looking for £324k and it nitially declined due to an "internal marker" turned out this was a default from a limited company he was a director of. We got it sorted and changed to an accept.[/QUOTE]

    Who/what are/is BDM?

I do have a broker who I have used in the past, but went direct to NatWest as I was trying to avoid the early repayment charge which is in place on my current mortgage. Should I not be able to get it sorted I think i'll have to go back to him and look elsewhere.

It was declined at the credit checking stage. Not sure what it's called, but it's the bit they have to check externally with their credit reporting agency, in NatWest's case Equifax.

It does sound like it might be something to do with the limited company I am a director of. Speaking with one of the team managers at NatWest they have advised we proceed with some kind of customer complaint and have been liaising with my business relationship manager. Coincidentally my Mum and Dad, who are the other directors in the business and also have excellent credit scores, were also initially declined a mortgage with NatWest a few months ago. They were then accepted a week or so later after removing my sister from their financial associates . . . a process which I am now doing to see if that helps me.

Forget about what's on your credit file for a moment, have you or your Wife ever had an issue with a Natwest or RBS account?

    OId student account maybe?
