gonna sell of the family silver - how do i do it

I have decided to try and off load some of our useless stuff at home to help get us out of a short term hole. I have a diamond to sell that was given to me, i was told it had a value of about £400. where on earth do I go to sell it so i won't be ripped off.

any help would be most appreciated.

  • You can sell things on ebay, but diamond rings are selling extremely cheaply on there (I expect it is much the same for individual diamonds), and you would only get a fraction of its value.

I'm really not sure what to suggest where it is concerned. Maybe a jeweller would buy it off you?
  • Check the markings with a reference book from your local library,

do a little research before stepping out would be my advice,

they say not to polish it also,

I bought a silver table spoon for 50p from a charity shop that im sure will be my nest egg someday ;)

    Good luck
