Ahh yes childcare! We pay £9,000 a year at the mo
I'd love my son to stay a baby forever but I am looking forward to him going to school when the cost will reduce dramatically0 -
I'm a legal sec and have changed employers numerous times over the past few years. The job is pretty much the same at any firm the only differences are the equipment and processes. I've worked in small offices, large ones, modern and one that was a bit behind the times. I've found that the most important thing is being able to adapt to each solicitor as every single one I have worked for has been different. They all have their own way of doing things. From old fashioned partner to the newly qualified never had a secretary before each one has their own way. Some have more expectations and some do more of their own work.
Most firms now use digital dictation but even that varies as there are a lot of different software providers but they're all pretty easy to adapt to. Even the most obvious things like the photocopier have all been different but once you get used to that office's you'll be fine.
I think you don't need to worry too much, most recruiters are looking for experience. If you're capable of doing what is expected in the role your applying for you'll be fine.
Do you know any other secretaries at different practices who you could compare workplaces with?0
