basic bank account already, do I need to open another one prior to bankruptcy?

Hi,
I am about to apply for bankruptcy.
I have a basic Barclays bank account, debit card and online banking, no overdraft and a positive balance with no debt owed to the bank.
I am hoping I will get to keep this account once I have applied for bankruptcy, but, should I open another one in the meantime; to me it seems unecessary, but what is your opinion?

(I have one other bank account which is with a foreign bank and has a negative balance of approx £50.)
I have no other bank or savings accounts.

Thank you for any advice.

Of the top of my head, you should be able to keep that since they're not extending you credit (which insolvency would trigger the cancellation of). There may be an issue if your debts are also with Barclays, though.

    Hi Muttipops

I can't see any urgent reason to open another account in addition to your Barclays one, as that should not be affected by your bankruptcy. I am aware that some banks may withdraw online banking facilities post-bankruptcy but I don't know whether that would be the case here - perhaps you could ask Barclays directly if no one on here has first-hand experience.

    All the best with bankruptcy
