Macbook proof of ownership?

Hi everyone,
I won a Macbook retina recently and being so clumsy I want to insure it. However, like with most prizes, no receipt is given. So my my question is how do I have prove I have ownership (my insurance company requires I upload this)
The mac has come sealed, boxed with serial numbers etc? Is there someway I can register it with Apple and use that?
Essentially how do you prove electrical items you won are yours?
Thank you !

You used to be able to make a claim with the box / instructions, all that stuff ... don't know if that's changed and it will probably vary between different companies.
If they're asking for this stuff before they'll cover you then just phone them and tell them?, it must happen quite a lot with prizes / gifts etc. (I can't imagine many single women have the receipts for their wedding ring after they get divorced).
With stuff like TV's, I think they just take it as granted that you had a TV ... as long as your not saying you had a 200" £5000 monster, you should be generally fine I would think.0 -
did you have a congratulations letter/slip with it or an email saying you have won, if neither ring them and explain the situation, they will advise you what they they will acceptproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

Congratulations on your win. I recently won a prize which had a lengthy guarantee but I had no proof of purchase etc. so I contacted the people who sent the prize out and they emailed me a copy of the receipt. It may be worth contacting the people and asking if they can send out the information that you require0

When I had my iPhone stolen that I had won I had to email the company that I won it from and they had to contact my insurance company who were refusing to replace it as I myself had not purchased it. Luckily they did come around after initially saying no but definitely email or ring the company you won it from and hopefully they should be able to help you out.0

I contacted a company I won a TV from after it broke and they resent me the email informing me of winning. The manufacturers accepted that as proofThanks to all posters :A0
