credit rating?
Hi Im new to this but after reading your messages im hoping someone can give me advice.
I have credit card debt (£5000) The interest is building up and if i transfer them again i will have fees to pay as well as adding another card to the one's i have. I was thinking of getting a fixed rate loan out...pay off all the cards in 1 go and cancel them and so just have the 1 loan payment (which i can afford) and maybe pay it off early as well. I applied to northern rock but they turned me down so i sent off for my credit rating from equifax.
My credit cards were on there as was a catalogue I have. Trying to understand the lingo, fair enough a couple of payments to my catalogue were late BUT were paid...Does this really go against me?, Ive never not paid them just maybe a day or 2 late. I could apply elsewhere for a loan but it says that they will go on my credit rating as well so if i get turned down again.....im unsure what to do for the best..
I went on the smartsearch thing on here for a rough guide as to what i would get...i stated i had made late payments yet my credit rating came back as excellent...Im confused!!!
can anyone advise me...
oh and btw this debt was built up when i was with my ex ...he left me and the debt...

There is no such thing as a credit rating as such.
What lenders will look at is your credit history and then decide whether you match their lending profile. Some will accept late payments, some a few, others none at all. It all depends who you are asking. If there are a couple of late payments and they are months ago, it has little or no bearing really.
Check all of your file and make sure all the data is correct. Are you on the electoral roll? How long have you lived at your current address/worked at your current job? This all has a bearing on how lenders view you.
The best place to start would be a loan from your bank. Have you tried there?Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
