Dodgy Ebay and Paypal Purchases

Hi,
I bought a newish MacBook costing £700 on ebay at the end of March. Two weeks ago, the laptop stopped being able to pick up wifi. It was sent away for diagnosis and the logicboard is faulty and will cost £500 to replace. Ebay says I'm not covered as it is outside of their one month cover but said PayPal should cover it. PayPal have said it doesn't come under their purchase protection. Trying very hard to talk to an actual person at paypal (which they make as hard as possible) - but can't understand how I can be sold a dodgy product and that not being covered under their six month protection.
Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Paypal don't have 6 month protection, or provide warrantys0

Your redress is with the seller. If that was an individual and not a business then you are pretty much shafted. If the PayPal purchase was funded by a credit card you might get somewhere with them.
This isn't the best board on MSE to ask about this as there are other more consumer rights ones that may have people with better knowledge on this type of issue than here0 -
PalPal buyer protection does not cover the product itself outside of the transaction, it only really covers 2 areas
1. Did not receive the item.
2. Item is significantly different than described.
Because it looks like your issue does not fall into either you are not covered.0
