Uses for Coconut Oil?

My husband has randomly bought home 2 jars of coconut oil. I do the shopping and cooking - and have no clue how to use this.

Any ideas?

    Curry sauces are nice.

There are quite a lot of medicinal uses

Use it the same way you would any other cooking oil.

Use it to fry off veggies and spices when making curry.

A tiny blob rubbed between your hands then smoothed over your hair makes a simple, effective, sweet-smelling hair conditioner.

Add essential oils to a teaspoonful of coconut oil for a body moisturiser (obviously be careful which essential oils you use, not all are skin-friendly.)

If making a batch of turmeric paste for medicinal/dietary use, add coconut oil at the end before leaving it to cool.

Agree with Mojisola. I mainly use olive and coconut oils in my kitchen, although I don't deep fry, so can't comment on its use for that. I have even used coconut oil in place of butter when making lemon curd, which was really lovely.
Good as a face cleanser and moisturiser, body moisturiser and the tiniest of drop for hair conditioning.

I know this may sound odd but how coconutty does it smell/taste? A friend of mine has said to use coconut oil in place of rapeseed, which I normally use, to help with my weightloss but I cannot stand the smell/taste of coconuts....

A bit off-topic but I was looking for coconut oil (not for cooking) a while ago after reading about it on a website and came across this link which is pretty interesting:

    I buy mine from Tesco.

A colleague I know has sensational hair, skin & nails & she swears it's because of coconut oil. Internally & externally.

You might want to ask your husband what he had in mind?!

Different brands vary - some are quite strong; others have very little smell.

I met up with someone I hadn't seen for a month or so (a 60+ like me) and her complexion seemed very smooth, turns out she'd been using coconut oil regularly as a moisturiser. Have to say I was most impressed. Not bought any for myself yet.
