He has now been summoned to the guys house at 7am tomorrow.

Tell his boss, not a chance.

The meeting must take place at work, during business hours, and your son should take along a witness, preferably a Union rep.

Sounds more like a loan shark than an employer!
The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.

  • Thanks everyone. He has contacted him and said "Sorry, not comfortable coming up to the house at 7am given the current situation, can we please make it somewhere else".

    Waiting on a response.
  • He needs to insist on having a witness present.

Ideally, the witness should be someone other than a family member, or work colleague.
  • Can I ask if the loan was provided for a car that was necessary for your son to do his job?

Is your son a member of a trade union?

I agree that he should not meet his boss at his home at 7am. He needs to insist it's at the office during work hours with an independent witness present. Has your son got a phone with a recording feature (subtle hint)?

No it wasn't a necessity for getting to work. He already had a car but was looking for a new one, and his boss actually offered him the finance/loan rather than "All the hassle of finance", oh the irony.!

Trade union, No.! It is a small company with only 3 employees, and the boss works too.

Aside from the hassle (which he's getting anyway), a mainstream finance deal (eg. a bank loan) would've probably been cheaper.

Working at a small company, isn't a bar to joining a union.

Indeed, however he is not a member of any. I wonder how quickly that may change after I have shown him these posts.
  • He could join one today, online.

Hope things work out okay for your son
