You will usually get a small discount when paying by direct debit so most of the time a direct debit tariff will be cheaper.

You've got to pay monthly in advance so it may not be cheaper overall if you need to borrow and pay interest on the money to pay the bill.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Thanks, found a comparision website enirgy I'm, staying with Airtricity.

Sales rep from another company called the door his morning. Tried to get me to switch to a keypad tarriff and told me it would be cheaper than airtricity, and offered £75 switching bonus and no contract?

Check out the comparison table. Link at bottom of page for electric comparison. Current cheapest is Budget @ 12.50p per unit on ebill Direct debit, 12 month contract. Cheapest no contract Click Energy @ 13.38. Open Electric @ 13.39 but with profit share, no contract. Keep an eye on this table as it updates often as prices change, most recent update has been 1st June

Are Power NI the most expensive? Thats who we are with. I do a direct debit of £30 a month, normally I stay in credit.

Just coming back to this, the difference between the best and worst for me is about £96, we live in a 4 bed detached.

From my current prover to current best is an annual saving of £55.

Electric Ireland even with incentives totalling £75 -

    £50 Switching Bonus
    £20 Direct Debit Loyalty Bonus
    £5 Online Billing Loyalty Bonus

.....is still 2nd worst for value over a year, so don't take for granted a saving to be made based on special offers!

Better format to work out by simple price per unit table.
