Friday 1st Juky - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Good morning everyone!
Sorry I've not posted on this in a long, LONG time, I've still been following and reading most days just been too lazy to post.
It's my day off today so thought I'd be a bit more pro-active and actually touch base.
Today will be:
NSD as all food/drinks etc in for the week
Pick up OH from town from work at 2pm
Tidy up house - done
List up/reevaluate prices on items on Gumtree
Have a great day everyone!

Hi All
Thanks for the start PF
My ebay pot was boosted by another £7 last night so total sales in June was £80. Particularly pleased as that is another 3 of many hundreds, of comics gone out of our home.
Good luck to your sister Legomum
Back later

Greetings Frugalistas,
Busy day so far. Have come to a temporary standstill as have been banned from lifting the hoover upstairs because of my poorly arm. Today's money saving activity:
*Cleaned all of downstairs using minimal products & washable cloths.
*Paid 2 x 50ps into my sealed pot.
*Pulled a little bit more rhubarb.
*Watercress starting to go a bit stringy & to bolt so have cut it right back (some of it will regrow) & turned the big bunch I cut into watercress soup - one of my favourites. A portion for lunch & 2 for the freezer. Told you I'd gone into Recession Mode!
*Baked cake to take along to a community event I'm attending tomorrow. It's in the oven, just having a few more minutes as the centre wasn't quite cooked.
*Tidy fridge & pantry ready for tonight's online grocery delivery. Fractionally under budget & hopefully we'll have got the free cat food for cat to try.
*Energy provider meter-reading portal still malfunctioning so submitted meter readings using the online customer services form instead.
*Entered a competition.
*Uploaded a Sparks card offer onto card in case we visit city centre on Sunday - buy one hot drink, get one free. I don't really find that the M&S Sparks card does much to lure me into the shop......to be honest, I'd rather just rather they had some clothes I like, these days.
*Water greenhouse veg & feed tomatoes, cukes, courgettes, etc. Chillies are setting fruit now, so will chuck a bit of feed their way as well.
*Trying the Dave Ramsey podcast. I have listened to 3 or 4 but unsurprisingly, I'm finding it too specifically American for UK audience. The basic debt-avoidance/debt-free stuff applies to everyone but there is obviously so much stuff about US companies, rules, law, situations, so I think I will give up on this & investigate different podcasts. I like the RHS one for gardening, but would quite like a frugal lifestyle/'green' issues one, so will have a look.
(Hang on....just trying cake again............nope, needs another 8 mins, I reckon. I'm busking it because I've altered the original recipe so much, that the cooking time instructions are fairly irrelevant).
*Continue to treat poorly arm with ice & try to attempt not to use it in ways that cause it to hurt more.
OK, that will do for today.

Hi July Joculants,
Thanks for the starter PF.
I was working overtime this morning but have this afternoon off. It was a tricky one but I made it through. :T
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:
* Checked online banking.
* Paid rent and council tax on time.
* Did RM Surveys.
* Was too busy to eat my mid-morning snack.
* Chased up a declined Quidco payment. It's only for £4 but worth a shot.
* Watch DVDs from the back of the cupboard.
* Unsubscribed from a tonne of rubbish emails.
* Read the meters and submitted the readings online. We are back on track with our usage, thanks to a week away from home.

Legomum well. With the way the current employment situation is, those odds dont sound that bad. Ive heard of jobs where hundreds turn up. Hard for all concerned. My fingers and tows are crossed

Ally - Thanks, will try some of those.
Lego mum - I am stepping up all my money saving activities to shore up our household ready for the economic recession which I think will be unavoidable as the UK attempts to go it alone. That's what I meant when I said I was in 'Recession mode'.
