Advice on how to deal with unfair HMRC assesment

in Cutting tax
I'll do my best to make this long story short!
I bought-refurbed-sold 3 properties between 2006 and 2008 and like a fool put the tax stuff on the back burner. I worked full time in IT then and life took over and I forgot to sort out the tax on them. The revenue contacted me about this last year and after their first investigation demanded £60k tax! I only made £15k profit across all 3 sales! I appealed the decision - it went back to the same inspector who came back with £55k as the amount I owe. The inspector had decided to disallow much of my refurbishment expenses because I apparently did not provide sufficient evidence despite producing invoices and proof of payments from bank statements.
I had a mental breakdown in 2012 and have not been able to work since. Ive been diagnosed with an acute anxiety disorder and fybromyalgia just to add to my woes. These past few months have been difficult to say the least.
I just wanted to know if anyone here can recommend an expert in these type of tax matters who I can talk to to find out if I have any recourse to further appeal this unfair decision? Any advice would be appreciated.

You need to contact an accountancy firm who has a specialist tax department, particularly in the area of investigations. HMRC must have been rubbing its hands at dealing with an Unrepresenred taxpayer. All is not yet lost and you may find a change in attitude by HMRC when you are represented. Good Luck!0

What was the reason they gave for disallowing your expenses?
If you've provided invoices, either the inspector doesn't think they're genuine, or they don't relate to capital expenditure.0 -
Bearing in mind your serious health issues I would speak first to TaxAid, the leading charity.0
