Problem re lost post

I ordered contacts of the internet for a friend and now they haven't arrived.

I put the amount on my credit card, so I am now £55 down which I could really do without.

However, it is not my fault the contacts have been lost in the post and so I don't see that I should cover the £55, but I can also see it from my friend's point of view, they have no contacts, so why should they pay (not that he's refusing to pay at the moment).

I'm at the stage of constantly e-mailing the contacts lens company (no tel no) and they are not getting back to me. I can see that they might get people lying about this (but I'm not one of them), but are they within their rights just to not send out another batch? There was postage of £3.50, so it's not like they couldn't have sent them recorded.

For the record, I have ordered off them several times before probably up to a total of £500, so I am actually a good customers of theirs. Just can't quite understand why they're not getting back to me. They got back to me within hours when I said I hadn't received them to tell me to check with the PO, but now that I've told them the PO doesn't have them, they're ignoring me!

  • hi there, i think you should email them telling them you are getting in touch with the oft, n have a look at their website while ur at it, could be worth looking into. do they offer recorded del.? not much use to you now but it will help with future orders. if they have the redcorded del. option n u chose not to pay then it may be they are not liable. heres office of fair tradings website http://www.oft.gov.uk/ hope this helps xx

Thats awful! Dont you have a tracking number? if they keep ignoring your e-mails I dont think there is a lot you can do, if they dont have a contact number. personly I would not have used them if I did not have a contact number for them.

Maybe someone else will have an idea.
  • Can you not make some sort of claim against your credit card company?? It might be worth checking out.
