If you've signed a firm contract, any price rises should not be your problem.

P.S. The 8.79p/kWh(or less in some areas) was available regardless of annual consumption. If you spent less time gloating about your subsidies etc etc.

You haven't mentioned the standing charge, could you let us know what it is? Perhaps you didn't realise that it makes a difference to some of us on low incomes who have made an effort to reduce our energy usage.

PS: where on this thread is the gloating you're talking about?

This happened to me, so I don't think it is too unusual. In my case I ended up with higher spec for the same price. Don't forget that they want your business, your money, so if they need to change things you are in a position to negotiate.

Hiya Ian, just a thought, but those panels are the same efficiency as normal 250Wp panels (310Wp / 2m2 x 1.6m2 = 248Wp).

So for the same roof space they could install 'any' 250Wp panel, or even use slightly less space with 285Wp panels.

I suspect they've chosen those panels to get the price down, as poly silicon panels are slightly cheaper than mono silicon*. But if there are problems, I'd have thought the supplier could modify the panel type and numbers without having to change the price.

    * I think the jury is still out on mono v's poly in the UK. The mono's may be fractionally better, but the poly's cheaper, so a one all draw.

Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Thanks Martin they did say the panels were keenly priced! Your suggestion is a good one and I will follow up with them.
