London & County broker problems

We have been using L&C to obtain our mortgage and the delays coupled with the astonishingly incompetent person dealing with the application is making me wonder whether we should just ditch them and either go alone or find another broker.
Our circumstances aren't particularly difficult but they refuse to send out an email confirming all the information they require so everytime they fill in one box on the application form it raises new questions. They seem completely unprepared for simple questions such as the need to provide 3 years addresses and ask for things in such a piecemeal fashion it is taking forever. She seems completely unable to grasp the concept that we weren't living together when we married and this is our first house we are buying together. We are months into the process and an application hasn't even been submitted yet. It took them the best part of a month to even come up with a suggestion for a deal!!!
I'm just wondering if the input monkey we have been landed with is typical of the situation there or if moving to a different member of staff might give us someone with a brain cell? I don't have any confidence that what the monkey is putting in on the form is correct and they won't send us a copy of what they are submitting for us to check it is all correct. We could end up being refused just because the monkey can't grasp basic concepts and has input the wrong information. Did anyone else have a similar frustrating experience? How did you get it resolved?

I used L&C and there was no problem at all so maybe it is the individual consultant.
I had 2 cause and both were brilliant. My situation was also fairly straightforward with employment and usual couple of addresses though all verifiable and register with electoral roll.
Maybe ask for a different consultant?EU expat working in London0 -
A new broker should take a few days to establish your options, and if you have prepared everything to support your case for L&C and still have copies that will help. They are plenty of other brokers that work remotely in the same way.
If you decide to stick with L& C, but are not happy with the service, ask to speak to the Manager.
If they are not aware what is going on they cannot put it right.I am a Mortgage Broker

Factory line sales methods are fine for easy things but can be difficult on when things are not so straightforward.
Generally, you find, from forum posts, that L&C are fine when its easy but not so much when its more complicated or the buyer is not that knowledgeable about mortgages.I don't have any confidence that what the monkey is putting in on the form is correct
Whilst you do not expect a telephone service to have the most qualified or knowledgeable individuals, there is no need to resort to calling them monkeys.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I'm very early on in the process but am using L&C and can second that, so far, my broker seems great so perhaps it's just the individual0 -
I had recently and initially went with L&C for a remortgage, as they claimed they are a no fee agent since they get their commission from the lenders, but dropped them after two conversations with one of their brokers. Either the chap had enough ££ commission in his pocket or simply not interested.
It might be just down to luck I met this crap individual from L&C, but have since chat to local brokers in my area. Though smaller in size compared to L&C but far better humane service from them.
Once bitten twice shy - thats for me in re to L&C.0
