I just set up a petition to ask the UK government to put pressure on VolksWagen to offer similar compensation in the UK to that which they have agreed in the USA.
Please sign if you (like me) are affected by the emissions recall.
The petition can be found by adding 'https://' to the site address below:

My petition:
Ensure that VW compensates UK owners for the emissions scandal.
VW has agreed significant compensation for American owners caught up in their attempt to cheat emissions monitoring. However, they have refused to consider any compensation for UK owners in the same position. I believe this to be unfair and ask the UK government to address this situation.

why do you think you need compensation, it has not affected your use of the vehicle.0
-
Perhaps not the use but it has affected the resale value.0
-
Bit desperate, this.:T :money: :T0

If I can't afford to change my car in a few years time because of the extra depreciation caused by Volkswagen's deception I think they should make up the difference.
It seems only fair to me and to several other VW drivers I have spoken to.0 -
What extra depreciation. The evidence so far has shown nothing0

Why would the resale value be affected?.0 -
The overall reputation of Volkswagen has been damaged by this issue. Sales of VW cars fell 14% when the news broke and have not recovered fully even now. So if new car sales are affected there is likely to be a knock-on effect with second-hand cars.0

But there is no evidence of that at all. You need to show an actual loss to be able to claim compensation.0 -
I will not be able to quantify that until I am ready to try to sell the car (perhaps in two years time).0

So, you want compensation for something that may or may not happen, have no idea how much it should be, but you want it now.
Pretty much sums what has gone wrong with this country.0
