Afternoon all,
Non stop rain here at the moment and cool so I'm tucking into some more of my hm cauli & blue cheese soup. You dont think you'll still be needing warming up with soup when its nearly JulyThe temp in the house isnt being helped by the cold damp air coming up from the cellar.
Had a couple of busy days with DGS but DS2 took him to a playcentre yesterday afternoon as he and DH had a day off before starting their next job.He fell asleep on the way back too so had a few hours peace- I think DH realises why I'm always shattered after having him all day now- kept asking me if he was always so lively, errr yes he's 2 1/2My cousin popped by for a cuppa (or 2 ...)not seen her for a couple of months so that was nice. She was given a rapturous welcome by Ly1a who remembers she always has a treat or two in her bag :rotfl:
Tea tonight will be a bit disjointed, chilli for me & DH,pizza DS1,DS2 a turkey steak & not sure about DGD,I never know whether she's had her tea before she gets here ,soon sort something for her if not.
I don't feel like going out today as its so wet,so I'm going to go upstairs and do some cardmaking.I've spent nearly all morning ironing and the TV had a bad signal so one of the few that worked was create&crafttv ,showing their Chri........card sets.I wont be doing those cards, can't think about that yet! Sis in laws birthday is at the weekend though so will sort one for her,
Hope you all have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Shattered now as I have just emptied three huge boxes with kitchen stuff. On the bright side I have found my spice rack, chopping board and some herbs and spices as well as a lot of pans and dishes to be washed.
The kitchen surface is now full of stuff to be washed up once builder has left and if dd comes tonight to drive me to slimming club I want the kitchen to be clear.
It is pouring with rain and I have left the washing outside as I don't want to get soaked to drag it inside.

Good Afternoon everyone, I sit watching the beautiful rain drift (pelt) past my window and watch those lovely weeds growing apace under the steely grey sky and I think Oh to be anywhere other than England now that summer is here!!! Isn't it grim? I'm in long sleeves and thick socks and we've just had hot lunch in the form of jacket potatoes and I'm shivering and in a couple of days it's JULY!!!
We took a drive across to Lidl this morning and I picked up basics like flour, oats etc. so the store cupboard is looking healthier and we can have porridge for breakfast when it's dreary like this. I think I'm going to do some baking this afternoon as a way to feed us and to warm up the downstairs. I'll make scones, a cut and come again cake of some type and a quiche and a pie of some sort/crumble for a few days, I've got rhubarb and some loganberries in the fridge so either of them will be nice in some sort of pud.
Wimbledon on the TV is as soggy as everywhere else but at least now they have two courts with lids, so some play to watch, it could be worse couldn't it?
Have yourselves a nice day and stay dry and warm, Lyn xxx.0 -
My trip to the local hospital was good, I was taking a 93 year old man to get his hearing tested. Gosh, he was sprightly and didn't need any form of walking aid. He and his wife have lived in the same house for over 60 years. I really liked him.
When I got home I found that my new telescopic feather duster had arrived :j so now all the corners downstairs are cleared of those pesky cobwebs - we get the very long legged and small spiders. Just waiting for the postie to call and then I'll head into town to take a car full of cardboard away. I've cooked a pan of mince which'll go in the freezer when cool.
Funnily enough since I sent out the 'two month warning' email to some of my students I've had three extension requests and one person panicking. Lack of time does focus the mind somewhat.0 -
Afternoon all
Wall to wall rain here today, still I'm home now, popped into Pet Smart to buy some fish food on the way.
Still busy at work, two more people have had pay cuts, there is a big event coming up soon and no one wants to volunteer, funny that isn't it.
I fancy doing a bit of sewing tonight, I have a pile of mending awaiting my attention, I might have a bash at that.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
ELONA I to have considered fake grass.
Sitting here enjoying quiet. Husband has taken daughter to a golf driving range for Explorer Scouts and its about 17 miles away so he's waiting at his brothers nearby. Son has been to a University open day with lots of Universities there. He's a bit more enthusiastic about going but is looking at a local one which he can commute to as he doesn't want to live away.
My brother is in hospital severely jaundiced and has had to have a blood transfusion. Tonight I've learnt that my husband may either be losing his job or if he is successful apply for abouta new post with a pay rise. None of this is helping my anxiety / depression.
Hugs to those who want / need them.0 -
We have had several heavy showers today. This evening it rained again, just as the sun as setting, OH drew my attention to the sky, there was a perfect rainbow, the colours were so vivid, it formed a perfect arc. It lasted for about 5 minutes before it be can to fade.
Neither of us had ever seen anything like it before. There was a second rainbow behind it, you could just see the red. Fabulous.0
