Egg sending threatening letters

I am having severe financial problems and owe about £62000 to my bank and on credit cards. I am in contact with CCCS about a DMP but due to personal problems I seem to be unable to complete all the details to start it.
I have had a County Court letter from Egg ( who I owe £9500 ) and replied and said I can only afford about £10.00 per month ( I had spoken to CCCS who told me to work out what proportion of my debts I owed Egg and to offer a payment accordingly.) This I did and their debt collecting company has written back and said they are advising the company solicitors to reject the payment offer as they want a charging order on our house. They say it is because it is a large debt and they do not want to force us to sell but they need some security. They then go on to say if they get a charging order they will be happy to accept £10.00 per month and even say we can start paying now.
Can they do this ? Is this a case of bullying?

I don't have a quick answer for you, but I WOULD suggest that you take some professional advice, CAB for example, BEFORE they start, or attempt to start proceedings for placing a charge on your property.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
