Why wont a provisional count? It counts as ID with estate agents/banks/supermarkets etc and mine has always been accepted no problem. It still identifies who you are.

They just said only a full drivers license would be accepted, annoys me too but if they won't accept it then they won't accept it.

Finally managed to get some answers from step change. I have two options, either bankruptcy or pay the companies I owe £1 each a month. Was told I needed to switch banks for a basic current account and once it was all switched to set up a standing order for each creditor and write to them explaining my situation. Was also advised that if they say no to then continue to pay anyway as they cannot reject the payment.

Step change also want to review my circumstances once I know if I am being promoted at work and how I set up my business. Still need to speak to home about this though.

Token offers is a useless strategy unless it's short term.

Why are they not saying a DRO is an option?

Tbh I felt the end part was a rushed job as it was last night and the guy clearly wanted to go home. Will wait for my info from step change to arrive in the post then will sit down and read. I know my debts are not over the 20k mark.

Just managed to open a basic current account with lloyds online. But I have another question regarding the business side of things. I would need a business account (yikes!) no overdraft or anything but I owe Santander a lot of money with my personal accounts. Could I still open the business account with them then close my other personal accounts or is this too risky. I have seen that Nationwide allows business transactions via the personal accounts so will open one of these if needs be.

    Too risky, smallandcute

You need to be banking somewhere other than where you have debts, whatever the chosen strategy.

'It was late and he wanted to go home' is not a very good explanation for incomplete and ill-explained advice. Maybe the written confirmation of what they said will make more sense.
