Endowment and EU exit worries

Hi,

Our 25 year endowment matures next spring and we were hoping to use it to pay off the mortgage (or, reduce the amount we owe by quite a bit).

Will the EU exit reduce the amount we will get (considering the endowment matures during the EU 2 year 'divorce' period)?

It might, it might not. Nobody knows for certain. The immediate period of market volatility will be over by the time your endowment matures so that is probably good news. Try not to worry about it - it won't help.

You could always pay a little more into your mortgage account every month and give yourselves a little more breathing space. The future is always uncertain. Events will occur from time to time that haven't been forecast.
  • Hi,
We are overpaying and I was hoping to have the mortgage finished by the end of next year. I was a little worried about the bonus payments that are added to an endowment in the final year but I guess we will have to just wait it out. I hope that, by next spring, things have calmed down.
