What to do with empty plastic gallon containers??

I use a lot of white vinegar and want to know what to do with the empty containers. I've used as many as I can to keep stuff in the shed and the garage, given some to friends and to school but what can I do with the rest?
I've tried the local farm shops where I get the vinegar from and they don't want them back. Any ideas please - I hate the thought of putting them in the bin.

No, I must admit I didn't think of Freecycle - good idea. Mind you, having just read the sloe gin thread, perhaps I should think of keeping 1 of them for that0

You don't say what colour they are. Will they work as cloches?
You might get more suggestions on the Green and Ethical board.

Some are white and the others are white/opaque, if that makes sense. They're the type with the rectangular base rather than round - I could, I suppose, cut the bottoms off and use a couple of them to protect some alpines in the garden over winter.0

I end up with the gallon size ones when I buy distilled water for the iron. They are taken with the other plastics in our local recycling scheme.

I second the wine making idea...demi johns are not so easy to come by now for some reason and expensive when you can get them...just be sure to wash and rinse them thoroughlyWeight 08 February 86kg0
