ZoPig2016: I'm in the process of opening a new bank account for my 'pocket money' so I can keep a better eye on it - I think that will help me budget as there is no way I would be able to keep track in my head what I have spent if I continue to keep it all in one account.
I want to track my food spending a bit more. I'm generally not too extravagant with lunches but I'm sure I can save on takeaways and eating out or lazy (expensive) cooking at the weekend if I just plan a little.0 -
Me again
My method for money management is;
Salary
Less standard Monthly/Annual costs
Less £500 (£200 food, £300 fun money)
Leftovers to Mortgage
(Note - I don't have/need a car and I realise most other people do)
With that £500, I withdraw the £200 in cash and spend less than £10 per day. With the £300, I either withdraw £xx and that's my budget for the day out/night out/event/item or just spend it online and keep a tight eye on it.
Going for after work drinks? Never hurts to stick to your own round, and have a pint of soda water every other drink if you want to. Or just get wasted if that's what you likeImportant thing is to balance enjoying life and making Overpayments
MvMBaby Step 1 - £1k Emergency Fund - COMPLETE
Baby Step 2 - Pay off all debts except the Mortgage - £9,326 to go
Baby Step 3 - Save 6 months of expenses into full Emergency Fund - £4,300 to go
Baby Step 4 - Put 15% into Pension
Baby Step 6 - Pay off the Mortgage early
Baby Step 7 - Live like no-one else0 -
It's pay day tomorrow - the perfect time to plan out my finances!
This month's goal: £100 overpayment is already in the bag, but I want to make and save as much money as possible as I have to pay for some work to be done to my flat which is going to cost a minimum of £1000, and I don't really want to dip too much into my savings/emergency fund. Its a difficult month to start this with, but if I am careful and have my eyes open it has to be better than hiding my head in the sand0 -
Hi almost,
How is the food spending going? I find this is the area that I find challenging too and where the most significant savings can be made x0
