My partner was given a provident loan even though he had no income the agent put on his form that he was in employment and happily handed over £800 pounds.would this come under irresponsible lending?

It sounds like your partner made a fraudulent application. That could be fairly serious.0

What did your partner tell the agent?
Did he say he as unemployed with no income, or did he tell them he had a job?0 -
He was honest the agent was telling him what to do and say0

He's made himself party to a fraud then.0 -

Can you prove the Provident employee was the dishonest one?"Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... Both are at fault in my eyes, your partner accepted the loan despite the application being false. How was hd expeciting to pay it off with no income ?0 -

Why did he sign a legally binding document if he knew the details to be false and fraudulent? What good did he think would come of it or did he just see the £ signs and not think past that?
The agent may have acted inappropriately, but that cannot be proved, whereas there is a document that exists that has been signed by your partner.
I can't see a good way out of this, and no reason why there should be.
Apply for the loan, be complicit to the fraud and dishonesty, presumably spent the money, then look for a legal way out when it comes to paying it back. How about accepting responsibility for his actions? the agent might have been telling him what to say, but I doubt they held a gun to his head to get him to sign.
Irresponsible lending? No, irresponsible borrowing I'm afraid0 -
They seem to prey on the vulnerable in this area he was desperate to get his life back on track this seems immoral to me not the only person it has happened to around here when you are desperate they seem to take advantage and target you so they can make a quick buck like a shall we say nice loan shark0

Why did he think borrowing £800 without any means to repay it would get his life back on track?
