Thursday 23rd June - what small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning all :hello: happy Thursday.

Been thinking hard about plan for next 3 years, think I might not overpay last debt like crazy as its on 0% and work out minimum I need to pay it off before it ends and then just save the rest. Hmm, food for thought.

    Anyway, list for today:
    Vote :)
    Meals from stores
Work from home, so can dry washing outside until rain comes
Check banking, last day before pay day and I'm in credit :T ok, only just but I am none the less. I love budgeting :D
    DW on economy
Cleaned car out as its going in to be repaired (paid for by 3rd party) Found the missing shoe :j no wonder I couldn't find it when I turned the house and garage upside down :rotfl:
Crazy busy weekend so need to do some planning and packing and wrapping of presents (need to find them first)

Enjoy your day frugal pals. PF.
  • Hi PF thanks for starting the thread! Wow your post reminded me I need to apply for another 0% deal for our stoozing card. We've been stoozing for a few years and have easily made over £200 in that time

Then I read down and saw "vote" and I had completely forgot!

is it terribly tragic that I was excited about last night's rain because it would refill my waterbutts?! :rotfl:

    Small (and big!) things today:

    * VOTE
    * all meals from stores
    * use up 3 things from the freezer
    * use new pots & courgette for dinner I harvested from the garden this morning :j
    * taking dgd to the library shortly
    * water any veges in the greenhouse that need it
    * painting/crafty session with dgd using materials in stores
    * play "bingo" (me writing numbers 0-11 on a scrap of paper & calling them :D) to help dgd learn her numbers
    * post this ruddy cheque! Going to go and prepare it as soon as I post so it finally gets done!
    * if the weather clears up later take dgd for a nature walk
    * NSD - nothing needed. Finding it hard not to go and buy more compost and garden pots/any reduced seeds! Done to my last £100 in my bank account now and really need this to last until I start work/get paid....
    * photo things for fleabay and list tonight - seeds/compost/pots here I come! :D

    Ok gotta go x
    DF as at 30/12/16
    Wombling 2025: £87.12
    NSD March: YTD: 35
Grocery spend challenge March £253.38/£285 £20/£70 Eating out

    Hello Frugalistas,
    Today's list as follows:
*2 loads of laundry to maximise dry day for pegging out. Set timer for cheap overnight wash too.
*Mr f lifted our home grown garlic today so I've laid it all out in a big crate for drying. Great crop.
    *Water & feed greenhouse veg.
*Locate & jettison into space the snail/s that's been nibbling my beans & sweetcorn while we were away on our camping trip.
    *Pick bunch of sweetpeas.
*Did meal plans for next 10 days.
    *Wrote shopping list.
*Using up a bit of food we took away with us. Did 2 bags of blanched sliced carrots for freezer rather than chuck them.
*Possibly do 2 or 3 surveys as my Ipsos points are building nicely again (only just received the previous voucher so there seem to be a fair few survey invites around at the moment).
*Bit of garden maintenance - mostly chopping back things which have finished flowering, then filling the gaps with stuff I already have, rather than spending money at the garden centre.
*Paid 2 x 50ps into my sealed pot.
    *Knit
    *Vote.
    That will do for today.

    Hi June Jubilatants,

The "Amateur Gymnast" is a wee bit better today. She's able to walk now, with some difficulty thanks to Mammoth-Strength painkillers. Thanks for the good wishes.

So, household duties for me. I got up early to prepare all of DW's drinks and snacks before I went to work. She couldn't get into the kitchen and is diabetic so this was important. Also put everything she needed within reach. Cheaper than hiring a nurse for the day!

Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:

    * Checked online banking.

    * Did RM Surveys.

    * Bought nothing in the canteen at work.

    * Homemade spicy chicken and rice for dinner; made double rice so I can take some to work tomorrow for lunch.

    * Sponged a stain out of a garment immediately so it didn't stain.

    * Did the ironing. Decided two items didn't need ironing at all, they'll "do".

    How about you folks?

    Evening all :)
Thanks for starting the thread PF :)
No rain here today (for a change), but feeling for those people who have been affected by floods in other areas of the country :(

My achievements for today, such as they were:
    Cleaned kitchen floor
    Posted 2 ebay parcels
Sold 2 more items early this morning
    Listed a few more
Market / pound shop in neighbouring town this morning for a few bits and pieces
Been to dentist, so definitely not a NSD
Popped into sales unit while out, to see if anything needed - it wasn't
HM meals - OH cooked supper, so it was nice not to have to cook :D (and it tasted ok, too)
    Picked strawberries for pudding :)
Voted, coincided with dog walk. The ladies at the polling station thought that pup was the most enthusiastic voter they had seen all day :rotfl:

    Still to do:
See if anything in the garden needs watering
Nag OH to give me his accounts book, so I can put it with all the stuff I have prepared ready for the accountant
Put away some winter clothes that have been hanging around in the bedroom for ages :o

Better get on with it, as I don't want to be late to bed!

Wow it is quiet on here. As baileybabe said hope everyone is having fun. Done my list - although I've lost a dress I was going to wear on Sunday. I've only ever worn it once, can't seem to find it :( found a shoe, lost a dress, whatever next :rotfl: it's not like I either a) live in a mansion or b) have loads of belongings

Super frugal evening, popped to local waitr0se to pick up a parcel. Only been open a couple of weeks, smallish store in a posh area. Got massive haul of 10p items including:
    Bag of apples
    Tub of soup
Fruit salad (wouldn't normally buy this but it is just about to be a treat:))
    Mint plant
3 large loaves of part baked bread
    Bag shallots
    Special fried rice dinner
    6 sausage rolls

All part from apples, mint and fruit stashed in freezer. I'm very happy :j:j
May pop back next week, hopefully my card will have arrived for a free cuppa too :D

I've also applied for a 6% interest savings account and also bought the meat deal that was in martinis email that will be delivered Tuesday :T

Off to check out some diaries before bed. PF X
