We have been told that no way lender will accept money from abroad even if it comes from bank account. The rules have changed about a year ago and not every lender is accepting gifted deposits from abroad. we had our relatives in Germany who could help us with deposit but lender wasn't happy with that and we had to postpone so make our own savings.***Twins mummy***0

Thank you all. Something new happened. one of the brokers whom I talked to request an AIP from a bank without our consent and the bank put a hard footprint on our credit file!! Now the bank says they are not obliged to remove it. Can I follow up the matter through FCA?0

No. The FCA doesn't deal with individual customer issues.Thank you all. If the lender did it when it shouldn't, you complain to the lender.
If the broker did it when it shouldn't, you complain to the broker.
Either way, if unhappy with the outcome, it's the FOS your next port of call, not the FCA.I am a mortgage broker. Broker said it was their mistake, they talked to the lender and they refused to remove it.
Now, I don't have any option but make a complaint to the regulator which you said is FOS0 -
You need a final outcome letter from the broker first.Broker said it was their mistake, they talked to the lender and they refused to remove it.
Now, I don't have any option but make a complaint to the regulator which you said is FOS
Then you have six months to escalate to FOS.
If you got to FOS now, you'll be referred back to broker for final outcome letter...I am a mortgage broker. Out of interest, what can the broker do here?kingstreet wrote: »You need a final outcome letter from the broker first.

Presumably the mark can't be removed as it is truthful.
So is it just a case of compensation?0 -

I don't think that it matters... whereas if you complain, and maybe make a formal complaint to the FOS, you will upset the people whose help you are likely to need.0 -
they said "it should be fine". But they said they cannot 100% guarantee it. I cannot understand why they cannot when they are actually assessing the case. So, I asked the question to see if anyone has any similar case?
I assume you are talking about the solicitor you are considering using?
Anyway, I agree that such a response is not good enough. Your lender should have given a list of the solicitors on their "panel", that is, the solicitors whom you can use. Arrange to go and see a few of these in order to choose the one to use, and be sure to ask this question. Take along specific details about who is giving you the money for the deposit; where the funds are now; and the precise way in which they would be transferred to an account in the UK.0 -
