Making Greek Yoghurt

DD reminded me a couple of minutes ago that she needs Greek Yoghurt for school tomorrow. (Tesco delivered yesterday!) I have natural yoghurt - can I make it into Greek Yoghurt?
I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

It is some sort of tart with a moussey type filling (DD's words). They are going to use gelatine to set it - I remembered that!

  • If you have a very fine sieve you can let it drip through it and you'll end up with a very thick Greeky type yoghurt - but not very much of it - depends on how much she needs.

  • If they are going to set it with gelatine, it won't matter how thick it is. But, draining through the toe part of some old tights overnight will thicken it up.

Thank you everyone for your replies. As time was pressing and I was a bit concerned about how much I would end up with, I ended up going to Tesco, buying some and dropping it off at school for her (14 mile round trip:mad: ).
Will definitely have a go at straining some natural yogurt soon - you can't beat a bit of knowledge and practice for these little emergancies!

The easiest way is to strain ordainary yoghurt, but not overnight or you will have curd cheese!
Line a sieve or colander wit muslin, cheesecloth or j cloth. Pour in plain yoghurt and leave for a couple of hours.
