Need Advise

Looking for motivation / Advise from Gym goers

I used to be a moderate gym goer and fitness concious however, owing to recent changes in circumstances in family , work I was not focussing on fitness and as a result i see that my trouser size went from 28 to 34 , find it disgraceful to see myself on mirror.

I also realise that over the past 3 years , i've grown very lazy and lethargic ... often procrastinating things. Doubting that it may be a deficiency in Vit D... I did a vitamin D test and noted that it is low but not deficient.

I am seriously considering to start Gym to get back my confidence in the hopes that it will set right all things.

I would be grateful if someone can help me with the schedule for my initial days at gym to first reduce my tummy back to 28/30. Also need assistance if I should take up swimming as well. I used to love swimming during my gym days in the past!

Also appreciate the diet if any will help he cause.

    * advice

    Most gyms will give a free personal training session upon joining, they'll help you work out a plan that suits you and your aims.

    As for the diet, asking occupational health officer for the right recipe is the best way, don't go on a diet without any plans and it's bad for your stomach.
    Never too old to learn!:j
  • For the quickest and healthiest results you should combine resistance with cardio. You should start off gentle to avoid injury (3 times a week for 45 mins or so). Importantly, find a machine/class you like at the gym. IMO swimming is a great low impact sport for the body, but you have to do quite a lot of it to see results in body size/fitness - so combine it with other things. The focus should be on strength and health, not just weight loss.

    If you said you used to be an avid gym goer, I reckon you'd get back into it pretty quickly.

    Finally, set a goal. I got pretty fit last year by challenging myself to do a 10k and then a half marathon, the race days spurred me on massively.

    good luck

    Get into fitness classes! They're less like work and more like fun!

    **** it, try a Zumba class!

    Youtube has some great content for free, but if you want to try something more real and LIVE check out joinflex.tv . Most of the classes are for free and I now do Yoga on the regular without worrying about looking like a lemon
