Just received an email and the benefits look great.

You could argue that this isn't a no spend freebie but I have popped it on here for the free 150 points when you have a hearing check and I am hoping that they may do more promos like it.

How do I sign up?

You can sign up for free in store by talking to one of our healthcare team at the medicines counter. You'll need a Boots Advantage Card, but if you don't have one already, you can apply in store or online. When your card arrives, just pop into store to activate your Boots Pharmacy Advantage Club membership.

Terms and conditions
Boots Pharmacy Advantage Club is free and exclusive to UK Boots Advantage Card members
Customers will need to re-enrol to Boots Pharmacy Advantage Club after 12 months to retain their retail benefits
Boots Pharmacy Advantage Club is only available to customers in England and Wales. It excludes Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands
To collect 10 points for every £1 you spend on Boots-branded products every time you shop in store, you will need to be signed up for Boots Pharmacy Advantage Club and have activated the 10 points offer on your Boots Advantage Card by joining Boots Pharmacy Advantage Club at your Boots Healthcare or Pharmacy Counter
You must present your permanent Boots Advantage Card each time you shop to receive the 10 points offer. The 10 points offer will not be awarded retrospectively
10 points offer excludes prescription and selected dispensary items, infant milks (up to 6 months), gift cards, Boots Opticians products and services, Boots Hearingcare, Boots Kitchen Appliances, Boots Insurance and Travel Services and Professional discount cards, the 10 points benefit will not be available to customers getting points offers from other Boots clubs.

Most of these are not new, they are regular offers. The new offer seems to be double points on 'selected private pharmacy services'. For most people, these are available from their GP (though clearly without Boots points).

Boots ceased to be an important part of my life when they withdrew the pensioners' 10% discount on own label products, replacing it with an 'enhanced' point earning rate worth less.

The recent Guardian article hasn't improved my opinion.

Oh well, it may suit some people and not others.

I'm on the boots contact lens scheme (buy contact lenses from them) and I get 10% off all Boots branded products.

When you combine this with O2 priority moments on Mondays, I'm usually spending 80p or so for a meal deal! It really adds up!

It may be an age thing. IIRC, previously pensioners got 10% discount (discount, not points) as well as regular 4x points on own label including No 7. This was replaced by zero discount and 10 pts/£ on own label.

Retail opticians have such high margins, it seems to be unusual not to have a discount. We have four within about 100m with more or less credible offers.

There's another thing to watch out for - the need to re-register after 12 months to retain benefits. Depending on how they manage this - will they send out reminders? - this could be a complication too far.
