Hey lovely people,
So, here's the dealio. We are a family of four plus a springer spaniel ages 24, 28, 4 and 6. We'd love to go away abroad together but it's just not feasible money wise, so we started to look in this country and it seems just as expensive! It'd be really nice to be able to take the dog as care is 20 or 25 a day
Does anyone have any ideas? We're so restricted as we don't have a car at the moment so it has to be accessible by trains. I just don't know where to start or what to search. I've looked at things like forest holidays and getting a cabin but it's still like 700 pound before we even travel there or anything.
Thanks in advance

Without knowing where you are in the UK, it's a bit hard to give any specific help. If you google on 'cheap family holidays UK' that brings up loads of options - cheapest are holiday parks, caravans and camping. Wowcher also features holidays deals on a regular basis, including some very cheap self-catering ones.
As for not having a car - have you considered hiring one? Might be cheaper than train travel.0 -

If you do go by train make sure you get yourself a railcard which will give you 30% off fares.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I notice that you are in Chester and do know that some private owners on Haven's Presthaven (Prestatyn) site, will allow one well-behaved dog, but school holidays are premium price times.
However, being unable to transport a crate to confine the dog while you leave him or overnight, may be a problem.0 -
I know the OP asked this in July, but if you're still around, then you might find my twopenneth worth interesting.
I used to camp and being a non-driver, I travelled by train/buses everywhere, but I'd check out the bus routes to a decent campsite. I used to go on this site called UKCampsites and ask on their forums (friendly bunch). Since my camping days are over (I'm getting on!), I now use Airbnb. It's great as I can choose my budget, location and accommodation. Usually, I stick to a room, but one place, the owner entrusted me enough to have the whole house to myself and that was just £30pn! I've been to Cornwall, France, Germany and Poland with them, and most owners are really lovely (works like Tripadvisor where you guage which place you want based on the reviews).0
