Candy floss machine waste sugar help

Hi I have just bought a candy floss machine a large one, I have followed the instructions but there always seems to be a large crust of sugar builds up around the edge of the pan. (I would expect a little but this seems tons).

Has anyone had experience of this and know what i am doing wrong as i must be wasting about 1/2 the sugar.

TIA

I did try this but it is a bit browner and tastes a little burnt i am hoping to find a way to stop it happening as much :)

Sounds daft but couldn't you just use less sugar. I have to say I don't have a candy floss machine so wouldn't know if it would work but just seems like an obvious thing to try.
