so I guess the question should be seen as OH has made an effort today...should I go to T and get a standard meal deal for a tenner....or do I push the boat out and pootle off to Waities for the £20 one?

Will he notice? Get T meal deal, maybe some pate or something as a starter, white/red tablecloth/serviettes etc, maybe red candle/nightlights, add free truffles, romantic music...

    Good morning everyone
    Happy Valentines day :heart2::heart2::heart2:

25% off all clothing at Sainsburys 14th-20th February if anyone wants to start spending their Nectar points :)

Anon re Vue cinema have a look on their website under offers. On tuesdays they do "Superdays" where they email you a discount code but you don't know how much the discount is until you enter it on the website. Or you could just use a few of your many Nectar points :)

Thanks Nellie. Will this be 25% off already reduced stuff as well please? I bought some half-price jeans the other day.

Cinema Update - opted in.to Super Tuesdays on Vue website, signed up to Meerk. With the mix of the party - adult plus 4 it is costing £29.71 for 5 of us. Probably could do better but can live with that in the circumstances.

75p per person booking fee for their own cinema is a bit cheeky though!

Do you have an Empire cinema near you? £3.95 all day on Tuesday. My brother and I are going to see John Wick 2 tonight :)

Do you have a Home Bargains nearby?

They sell Golden Sunrise chocolate buttons that are actually repackaged Cadburys Giant Buttons (evident from the Cadburys stamp on the base of them - although that's not obvious on the below photo)

    2604030_1.jpg

89p for 250g makes it about 35p per 100g for Cadburys chocolate

They also do 300g chocolate chunks for the same price if you want to go sub 30p/100g

I only know about it thanks to this HUKD thread from a while ago:

CADBURY giant milk buttons 250g for 89p. Home bargains instore
    http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/snidey-mcsnide-cadbury-giant-milk-buttons-250g-for-89p-home-bargains-instore-2604030

    Huge thanks for this.

Went for these today and the only Golden Sunrise they had were bags of broken choc pieces BUT I got a bag of giant buttons branded as Appleby & Baker (89p/250g) and looking at the receipt now it says Golden Sunrise G Buttons (CAD).

So maybe it's just rebranded with the same barcode.

Anyway, will test them later. :D

    Thanks again. :T

ETA - opened them and all the buttons are stamped Cadbury's :D

  • Just been in the One4all Ts and Cs - and I found this helpful:

Using the One4all with our Retail Partners When making a purchase you should know the balance on your card to ensure that there are enough funds available to cover the purchase. If the amount of a purchase which you wish to make using your Card is greater than the available balance, you can pay the difference in cash or by another payment method. For example if you know there is £30 on your card and your purchase is £50 inform the retailer that you have £30 on the card and wish to pay the balance with cash, the retailer can then process the transaction without issue. Should the retailer not be informed the transaction will fail as they will be trying to deduct £50 from a card with only £30 available to spend. The retailer will not know the balance and may say that the card is not working.
The main cause of a card been declined is due to the customer not knowing the card balance and attempting to purchase an item for a higher value than what is on the card.
Should you use the term "split transaction" most retailers will understand this that you want to use the Gift Card and another method of payment to pay for the items.

All this talk about one4all gift cards reminded me I still had a balance on one given me on my 50th birthday. Just checked the balance, and to my shock the last 4 months they have been debiting a 90p charge.

So just be careful it is in the t&cs, I had just assumed I could use it until the expiry date of 09/2017 on the front of the card. :(

How long is a One4all Gift Card valid for?

One4all Gift Cards issued after 01 December 2011 do not have an expiry date and will remain valid for as long as there is a balance on them. All physical cards have a limited time span and will need to be replaced to use the remaining funds on the card after this date. This date is printed as a "Valid Thru" date on the front of the gift cards. (Remember that any funds remaining on the card after this date remain available for you to spend, however you will need to apply for a replacement card to do so.) Furthermore, a charge will be deducted from funds remaining on cards monthly after the 18th month following the purchase date. The monthly charge is currently 90p or the remaining balance on card if lower. For cards issued before 01 December 2011 please refer to the terms and conditions on the directory or card carrier supplied at time of purchase or contact Customer Service Helpline Number 03700 84 4444.

Well I went to T and walked away from both their valentines selection and their standard meal deal....the valentines one was the other slightly more hearts packaged and if you really wanted to be romantic without the wine/fizz you can have safari chocolates....spots leopard print and zebra!!!!

my original thought last week would be a standard meal deal with a few additions but the selection available was so poor and even I can't make plain new york cheescake exciting!

so budget blown and off to Waities I went where we will tuck into
    Pea and ham risotto
    2 steaks
    parmentier potatoes
    asparagus

    and raspberry cream profiteroles
all with a bottle of fizz

    he's cooking
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend

Just noticed it says they don't have expiry dates if issued after 1st Dec 2011 well mine was issued after then and it definitely has expiry date on the front.

Really mad I have lost someone else's money they gifted me. Who would read those t&cs well embedded...

Nothing on the actual card, but can see on the back of the cardboard card it came with but listed as a feature.

And I probably got caught with this when I last tried to use it. It was assumed because I was trying to use it for Oasis one of the included retailers but was told it was rejected as they were a concession in the local Beales store. :(
  • In 2014 I had a bit of a faff with them in Curry's as I went to put them towards a large item and the till didn't like it. I think I had 4 or 5 vouchers.

Seems like it's better to use each of them in one go and use them up pretty fast.
