    It is very possible:rotfl:

I used to have one... it is the only thing I have managed to cook on!

  • Does the newspaper not set on fire!

When I was at school (all those years ago) our cookery teacher was 'teaching' us how to use a microwave, she covered a dish with newspaper and put the oven on, standing to the side of the oven.....when the paper set alight we were all laughing. She went mad at us for misbehaving, until she realised what we were laughing at!

TM It is impossible to burn on an aga!

and if bubbs bought one, there would be nothing left!

Paper burns at 451 degrees Fahrenheit (as in the book by Ray Bradbury), aka 233 degrees centigrade, if you cook the cake that hot you have no chance :D

Had problems using a conditional spend in T.
She said no alcohol and you have 2 bottles!
    I said will it scan.
    She said yes.
So I said well scan it then.
I am not allowed was the reply.
So I noticed my favourite sv was on who was called for and said scan it this time!!!!

Glad I persevered, the elite have trained me well.

I had a similar issue last week. Foolishly asked the SA to check whether my £6 off £30 would work with the gift cards I wanted, even though I was 85% sure I'd done it in the distant past, because I didn't want the embarrassment of getting the gift cards loaded and then the coupon being rejected. She started reading the back and said 'no'

So this week, I bought 2 gift cards and some beer and just handed the coupon over without a word, and it scanned fine :D Unfortunately it was only £4 off £30 :(

Note to self: I understand coupons in T better than their staff!

    Afternoon guys

Difficult one for me. Working in local dog rescue shop I would have to accept them and handle them. I've not actually had any since the news came out but I think that I will ask for an old note or coins in shops from now on. Veganism however is not an exact science. Some vegans go further than others. Some just do the food side of it - that is hard enough as it's a minefield out there. Then of course there is the cleaning and toiletries - I do try to be cruelty free but have stocks to use up first. The ecover coupons were brilliant for me. Then you have clothing - leather, silk (they boil up the silkworms with the silk threads), fur is a no-no of course. I am not using my old beloved leather handbags and won't buy leather, silk or wool now

Some vegans even eat eggs if they raise the hens themselves, same with honey if a known local source but mass produced honey is cruel to the bees (they kill off some and de-wing others to increase production)

I do hope that they can come up with a solution to the fiver problem, at least before the £10 and then £20 notes are changed :(

Some vegans are very in your face, and insulting to those who eat meat, saying you can;t be an animal lover and then eat animals. Fo me, I am doing it for my own conscience, doing it for me. I even pick up the odd whoopsied/cashback meat/fish to put in freezer for Steve/Andy and I have no problem sitting at same table with others eating meat and me not. I don't think we can force our opinions on others. Though I obviously would like the abuse and cruelty to stop

    Very balanced viewpoint, 3Dogs. x

This is the first year they've "caught" E:o

I double line them and put a double layer of greaseproof on top with a little hole. I then wrap a couple of sheets of newspaper around the outside about 2inches higher than the cake tin.

The trouble is that there's no temperature dial on my oven, it's not usually a problem as I know the timings for stuff I do regularly but a big cake is an unknown. I had a feeling that the oven was a bit hot when I put it in and should have followed my instincts:o

Would something like this be of any use TM?
