    Morning
just thought I would pop on as I also have OA and also made worse by hypermobility (which has only just be diagnosed)....exercise is the key although I am not the best at it...I do try with a bit of pilates and plenty of stretching and the like.
I am in my mid fifities and already been offered joint replacement in a few but the scarring and the nerve damage was a big feature as I have lived with someone who had a lot of this surgery and saw the part that the surgeons dont see :(
My fitness has gone from 2 to 5 in three months just my keeping myself mobile and finding a pain releif that suits (mines Naproxen) good luck xxxxxx

Sorry you suffer to wendy. It's pros and cons to surgery I was offered a thumb joint replacement. But I think from memory it was still a fairly new op then, not sure, but consultant did say sometimes surgery caused more problems so I decided against it.

My mum used to take naproxen it's a good pain reliever, unfortunately for me it's one of the ones I can't take. Not allowed to take NSAIDS as they cause me stomach problems. Found out the hard way. :(

I'm not very good at exercising in general. :o I should do more. I do the thumb exercises the hospital gave me, it does hurt but guess keeps them flexible as possible. Just emptied and refilled the fridge so OH could see to the door and could feel my grip failing by time I finished. I do have quite a few accidents dropping things. :rotfl:

Horrible to have but thankfully not life threatening, I think once I knew what the pain was that helped me a lot, the not knowing you imagine all sorts. :o

Many thanks to the OP of the Mylocal info....I resisted going yesterday, but felt that 70% off would be worthwhile today. Managed to visit 2 stores, fairly local, and spent £100.
Do feel for the staff....they said they were told 5 days ago, and none of them had jobs to go to.

:rotfl::rotfl: I know, bit hard when having buckets of dirty water thrown at you.

My mum has OA and also been diagnosed with carpal tunnel she is in agony at the moment as they are both fighting each other, she says the pain is unbearable at times wants to cut her arm off.

You sure they were just buckets of water, nothing alcoholic added.

Oh no that's not good, know how she feels, hope she manages to get sorted for pain relief. Has she tried heat pads? I find they help me quite a bit even in the summer I have been known to heat up the wheat bag in the microwave. Some people find cold compress work for them. As wendy said finding what works for you to control the pain. Wishing your mum all the best Sarah x

Well we have no idea why the door was dropping one side could not see anything cracked or broken but moving it over to the other side has thankfully sorted it. So now the seal on the fridge door looks like it is working properly. Fingers crossed.

Will take a while to get used to pulling on the other side now though. :rotfl:

First runner beans have been picked :j :j

Come home from the plots with another 3kg ish of strawberries, garlic, rhubarb, carrots, potatoes and runner beans :j :j

    Well done.
Haven't had any runners yet, they are late. Picked last five bags full (Shaws', thanks to you :A) of broad beans, now in the freezer. Leeks and onions in the garage. Gooseberries picked and waiting for me to do something with them. Had about 5kg of strawberries so far and another lot beckoning me to go and pick them. Peas should be ready to start picking within the week.

QoC, do your strawberries stay 'fresh' for long? Mine seem to deteriorate very quickly and start to go mushy. Haven't had this before. Keep making jam with them.

Potatoes will be ready to pick soon.

We planted a few out before we went away. Ours seem to be the only ones with flowers on so far  gooseberries are more or less ready but I've left them on there for now because I don't have the time or knowledge as to what to do with them that isn't alcohol based!

My strawbs aren't lasting long either :( I've just chopped up another kilos worth for jam and I suspect I'll be doing another lot too. The last stuff is nice but it's set too hard :(

Glad the bags have come in handy - I've got it in mind still to pick you up some more but I haven't been near a shop for ages

I had to pull up nearly all the garlic at both plots because of rust. I've disposed of the leaves and the bulbs are in the greenhouse drying out. I missed the boat on peas and broad beans this year :( xx
