Well it seems the knives are still out for me and at the moment even gentle elite banter from me is causing some offence to some.

I'm saddened that whomever has clearly taken exception with me over the last few days is not courageous enough to approach me directly and prefers the anonymity of the report button.
How can we resolve or reconcile anything between ourselves with a view to moving forward if you choose that route...it just manifests hurt.

I'm not above apologising to anyone who genuinely feels so strongly that my observations particularly on Wednesday caused them real offence but although I'm many things a mind reader is not a skill I have perfected yet....so you will need to reveal yourself,if reconciliation is something important to you too.

The elite has provided me with so much and I can honestly say I have probably learnt something from each of you that post regularly,but life is sometimes challenging for everyone and right now the last thing I need is someone who wants to light the touch paper and watch me fall...

Thank you to Savvy and Redfox for the lovely new thread ....it's in very safe hands and long may it provide those who use it with the unique experiences it does.

But for the moment it's time for me to shut the blinds and close the curtains

Morning all, finally it's stopped raining - we ended up lighting the fire last night as the house felt so cold and damp

We have overnight guests tonight. Eldest son is driving up from down south which could take him 5 hours as Friday traffic is awful, possibly setting off at lunch time

I said to him best plan of action is to come straight here but I expect this will be ignored. His GF has been on a works trip this week so she is flying in this afternoon. I said to eldest son the best idea would be for her to leave her bits at the flat and then for her to get the train here and we or he could collect her from the station.
Instead he will drive to GF flat to collect her and then drive back home, adding maybe another 90 mins driving time at least so then he will have been driving for anything up to 7 hours

That's the first issue so I've not much idea what time either or both of them will appear. They are going to a birthday party locally so I've also no idea what if anything they might want to eat before they go out as both will be knackered and possibly not eaten very much ..

Deep sigh

I still need to do some duvet wrestling

I think it's going to be a day of keeping busy and letting whatever unfolds just happen

I'm genuinely sorry this is happening to you LEJC. I'd say don't take it personally etc etc but I have been in the place where there's a message from the forum team every time you log in and it does wear you down it goes back to what I posted last night. The report button is for offensive posts, it's not an 'I don't like' button

I'm not big on 'please don't go' posts so I won't do that either. I do feel sad that you're being pushed out when this place is clearly a lifeline to you at the moment. I've been in that place and was grateful for the safe haven I found here at that time.

I've not been big on answering my PMs lately anyone who's a genuine friend knows it's because being personal is a bit scary at the moment and I'm avoiding it. I know they'll be there when I feel ready. So don't completely close the blinds and curtains. Leave a little crack for people who care to peek in please

And at the risk of being boring please think before you hit the report button. You might not like or agree with every post you see but take a second to think if what you are reporting is really offensive or is it just something you don't like or disagree with. It's quicker to scroll past than it is to report something and the ignore button is really useful if you really don't like someone's posting style. It's taken me a long time to realise that

Me too - but if you were considering using it you would be better.off buying the black NowTV box including a four month movies pass (or 6 month Entertainmemt) for a similar monthly cost - then sell the box and recover over £10 on 3bay or elsewhere to bring the cost down further .
