So nice catching up with lost friend. She remembered when in early mid 80s - She, I & my BF at time decided late one Friday night in pub - to go to France for weekend...
We got there as sun was rising but my BF couldn't get on with driving on right hand side of road & panicked so we caught next ferry back.
They both raided Duty Free & bought loads of fags, booze etc...
Customs stopped us & took the car (Capri :D ) apart - literally apart :D, as they thought we were very suss as we had come back an hour later..
They were fined :o:o:o (before EU allowances)
We then hid at BFs house all weekend to pretend to our mates in Pub we had been in France

also in Marks I remembered a posting from the dark side last night re the dine in offer - buy 2 of the Merlot Breakaway bottles - I found mine on the wine section, not by the dine in fridges and there were only 2 bottles left
so I bought 2 dine in meal deals - our store did not have much stock left but I got a lasagne for the freezer, bolognese pasta bake (this was on the shop list anyway) 2 packs of potato rostis which freeze nicely and these go well with sausages, chocolate melt in the middle puds for the freezer and Creme brulees

the wine is on offer 2 bottles for £12 so £4 is taken off for the wine multi buy, £16 is taken off for the free wine, £2 off for dine in so instead of being £20 the total came down to £16

not too bad. if you reckon the wine is worth £4 a bottle you have £8 wine and £8 food - you would be very hard pressed to buy the ingredients for Bolognese pasta melt, lasagne, 8 potato rostis, 2 choc puds and Creme brulees for £8

OH also went in search of yellow labels - very rare in our marks and he found a pack of dry cure bacon for 70p :T

and I had a credit voucher to pay for it all :)

    The Clearwipe Lens Cleaners -

    Clearwipe Lens Cleaner (20)

were another item that I eventually ended up finding at the sixth store. (I shouldn't worry about this as obviously it depends on which stores I go to - and had I visited them in a different order, I could have had them at store 2 or store 3.) Even so, I wouldn't be surprised if T have M no trace. However, in the course of trying to find them, I found another Lens Cleaner - Opticlear Lens Wipes (26) at £1.54 that obviously work out better. (I suspect the optician might give you enough lens wipes for nothing after a regular consultation.) I originally found the Clearwipe version from msm online:o:o. I hadn't got them on my previous collection before then (but then this was a product that my attention may not have been drawn to) and I thought that I stood absolutely no chance of finding them at my main store. However, I went there, on my following collection, and found them straight there! Surprised that my local useless stores have anything like this:rotfl: - but they do, so it just depends on where you go.

I didn't need to see the product this time (I saw it on Saturday anyway, and last Wednesday at a number of the different places visited then - last time it was three or four out of six, now just one - so it does vary on the stores you pick - I'll have other items more regularly if I pick different stores but then these more and the others more rare if I pick other stores, but one out of six does seem to get them - which is why I think T's three will be useless). Although it wasn't needed, store six came up with the Clearwipe cleaner for me this time! Mind you, my three regular stores - one out of them does have them, so if T has that situation, it should find them. If it has the situation of my selection yesterday - if I take my first three stores and then exclude the rest, it would be no trace of this product. Pretty expensive "savvy buy" if the Opticlear 26 are cheaper:rotfl:.

Another discrepancy:eek: - I've just noticed the "savvy buys" have "33% off" but the actual product page only has 30% off. Must have been at £2 for too long and brought the average down:rotfl:.

Those £10 and £15 Tommee Tippee products (M prices) on my list are more common when using the stores I used yesterday, so I don't know anymore - I may have thought they were rare as I hadn't seen them before but they may only just have come into M so that may be the reason.

EDIT: Opticlear Lens Wipes are on msm as well:rotfl: - I obviously don't look at this area very much! And :rotfl::rotfl: they are £1 in A, so should buy there (maybe against T or W hopefully N/A). :idea:I think that might be why the Clearwipe ones didn't get onto the list before. I may have had them but excluded them because I've seen the Opticlear at £1 in A on msm, but :(got taken in by the "savvy buy" this time. So, I may just delete the Clearwipe product - I probably wondered if it would be useful for T shoppers though. And Opticlear will not make the list at all, because it's not a "buy in M" (too expensive there) and won't be an "Avs M" either as A is more than 10% cheaper (than M) so just buy there separately (if buy at all). Also no use buying at S now at all. If an item not sold by T is more than 10% cheaper in A, then it's always now a "buy in A straight" and, even if it's not more than 10% cheaper, it's still a "buy in A" (with APG). And if it's an own label item, on which A is cheapest, then it now has to be bought in A. Obviously, if it's cheaper but not by 10%, still buy in A (on right comp. - unless the APG fails to have the correct price in which case it's buy in the competitor:p)!

Opticlear goes to £1 in M on rare occasions according to msm (the last, apparently, for just one day on 31st July - wouldn't work if it was just showing that price on a Sunday:(). So it's actually wait for competitor to become £1 and then buy in A (on right comp.). A lot of items on "A cheaper" do this - it's almost never best buying them straight in A as A's lower prices almost always turn out to have been too expensive once a competitor then goes to the same price (so 10% off hopefully at that point) or lower.

First time I took the car to Belgium was on the SeaCat when it chugged out of Dover. It hasn't been running for several years now.

Anyway, we arrived and I drove out if the port and decided to park the car just outside the gates and walk over the road to where we wanted to be. We dined, then into baccy shop for supplies, once these were deposited in the boot we sallied forth to the supermarket to father a few of our favourite food bits and several bottles of wine.

Poor dh had to do 3 trips to the car as bottles and food couldn't be managed in a single trip :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I did take the car again on 3 or 4 trips by which time I could drive out of the port and down the road to the supermarket but never managed to get across the main road to the baccy shop. I parked up and we walked over at the crossing :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

This was only about 12 years or so ago :rotfl: :rotfl:
