you need to do a spending diary to keep track of your daily spends - it could be just a note book but an excel chart is easier.
I did one earlier this year and it takes at least 4 months to see patterns - this allows for holidays, bank holidays, weekends away, birthday weekends, visitors staying for weekends, glitch shopping, twine shops etc
I put the categories across the top line and the months dates down the side. the categories I used
food
cat/bird food
drink (alchol)
house/garden
misc (chocs, sweets, crisps)
stamps
petrol/parking
days out
eating out
clothing
the last 3 where the ones I had to spend as little as possible on
it was quite a revelation to see the true figures of what we spend
Thanks. I only went through my CC statement. I don't 'think' I spend that much cash but obviously doI have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. Target 12/2020 :rotfl:

Love the new hair style by the way, it suits you :cool:Serendipitious wrote: »I just wish there was something so that the farmers don't have to plough perfectly good stuff back into the ground, those parsnips I saw the other week on a repeat of HFW's programme really upset me.
I've seen a vast difference since moving to the town from the wilds. Here it's so easy to pay for sanitised vegetables and then waste, whereas in the countryside an innocent morning coffee with someone invariably involved a huge basket of produce being thrust upon a person. I gave generously, received gratefully and never wasted a thing, not even the peelings, and I really miss the swapping that used to go on. If you went out, you'd often came home to a box of fruit on the doorstep.
I am beginning to think, having moved to town 4 years ago for the grandkids, that it's all been a very lovely experience, but I am almost ready to go home now... I actually haven't dared revisit old haunts in case I find it impossible to return here.
Sounds like you're describing where I used to live, out in the wilds, no street lights fit a mild or so:eek: I loved it, I loved the walks, the free logs from fallen branches dragged home and sawn into logs.
Where I am now is the edge of town but have a wood and fields just over the road. Plenty of hazel nuts, walnuts in the wild. We've found apple trees and plum trees in another location which I believe once were part of someone's garden, the house long since pulled down and nothing near for miles.
DH found Apple and cherries trees in the roadside near to the A14 roundabout, they aren't fenced off and fir a few years now these apple trees have been our supply for wine makingSerendipitious wrote: »Yes, I agree. I need to go exploring.
Here, in the autumn, my eyes are often drawn to a particular golden plum tree which rains down fruit. Just one problem, it's located in the lush grassy verges approaching a major roundabout that intersects with a motorway - no pedestrian access naturally!
I heard of one UK town council - can't remember where- that fenced off its plum trees in one of the parks in case someone got injured by falling fruit...
Yes, go out exploring there's plenty of free stuff to be
had but we just have to work to get itThere's no place like home

Well my day of doing nothing had an abrupt change  I had told a friend I would do some research for her today but so far I have done zilch
. I'll have to sit down tomorrow with this project.
I decided to go to Lidl for their cheese and red onion baps also a few packets of their lively Brie. None if the baps, and no Brie whatsoever, not even the light one, which I wouldn't have bought.
Anyway, on the way there I spotted ds1 walking along the road. He diesnt live in town so I guessed he was coming to see me. I pucked him up drove in to Lidl then home for coffee and an early light lunch for us.
He has gone home now and I've been trying to nap but constant phone ringing has prevented it so far. I'm not going to let it stop me, I've switched the ringer off, and now going for an hours nap.
See you all later xxThere's no place like home

Morning all, lovely sunny morning here . I am meant to be going for a run, but think I will go for a long walk with OH instead.
Am finding it really difficult to motivate myself to run, if there are any runners on here with any tips, please let me know, as I have entered a half marathon in October and need some motivation!
Hope your Le Creuset sets are dispatched DM - what a bargain!
