Fwiw, Pringles are still on £1 in M - they have been since at least last week.
Oh - a nice increase in price in A now!! I might even consider buying them:rotfl:. £2.48:T:T - I like that price:D! - and it looks like they've only just gone up - they're not really 2 for £3 are they? Is it Pringles glitch time? Whatever the case, at least they are off that unhelpful and unwanted £1.25 now:p:rotfl::T.0 -
Happy Birthday Riley

Out of interest, unless they are glitching, why does it matter what price they are in A if you are buying AvM (and assuming that the M price compares correctly(? The net cost is the same?

Because if I have 7 other useless price-matched items, say SP items, to fill the shop (albeit Pringles you could get lots of different ones but then I would not want to get more than one at 90p net as that would just be buying more - which is what supermarkets always want us to do!), £1.25 vs £1.00 with a few more pence in 10% on the other items does not make an APG worth printing. Whereas, if I have a larger voucher, or can make it up, £2.48 vs £1.00, even if there's a few pence for 10% on SP items elsewhere, is worth printing. It's the same cost - in other words I would not pay 90p anyway! - but, if I've got a voucher to spend, I would otherwise have to make up the voucher amount to be able to spend it - which, with Pringles at useless £1.25 (only 35p to APG:() means I have to find over £1.20 in other items to buy - and are then buying more than I need, paying for extra items at the end of it that would be unnecessary if only the Pringles were more costly than £1.25 at the outset. It's much better with the Pringles at £2.48, as it's much more efficient, you can buy fewer to reach your target amount and get the whole excess back in APG. Whilst I'm not aware, at previous price £1.25, anything extra at £1.23 that I would have to buy to spend the initial voucher amount would give 100% of its cost back - whilst the Pringles at an extra £1.23 should give the entirety of their extra £1.23 back, without having to buy more products in general (and thus spend more money). Much more efficient.
In other words, buy as little from anywhere as you possibly can get away with* and avoid promotions that are just aimed at having you buying more:money:.
I hope they are on 2 for £3 though. Can someone check? TIA.
(*I've added "can get away with" to cater for the possibility that you can't get away with buying nothing at all and spending no money ever as that would mean you'd have no food to feed yourself, so you couldn't "get away with" that situation as you would not continue to be alive. There's also of course pleasure and enjoyment, and money has to be spent at some time, but the key is about saving as much as you can when you do so.)0 -
For anyone re accessing their various savings pots I was reading something this morning and realised there is a building society which is missed off all of the best interest rates lists
Principality building society
firstly it has a fixed rate cash ISA with 1.75% - the plus side is that its fixed, the bad side is that's its a 5 year one - I am very uneasy about tying anything up for 5 years - so much life stuff can happen in 5 years.
I think it allows transfers in from previous years so if your old ISA is paying zilch its an option - apply online
There is also a 5 year bond paying the same rate
http://www.principality.co.uk/en/Savings-Accounts/ISAs/5-Year-Fixed-Rate-Cash-ISA
Then there is an e saver paying 1% unlimited withdrawals and deposits, might be good for holiday, Christmas, fix the car type of savings - I've got an old loyalty saver from Nationwide which is paying 1.2% or at least it does now but it might drop - I just use it for saving towards the 2017 big event.
http://www.principality.co.uk/Savings-Accounts/Everyday-Savings-Accounts/e-Saver
Then there is a children's regular saver bond, save up to £150 per month for up to 3 years, 3% interest for children up to 17 and you get a dragon money box :T I think this might be open in branch though
http://www.principality.co.uk/Savings-Accounts/Childrens-Savings-Accounts/Dylan-Regular-Saver-Bond-Issue-6
and also if you like regular saver accounts there is a nice one year bond paying 2% and save up to £500 per month - open online, download the form, you can make the initial deposit online or in branch or you can send off a cheque.
http://www.principality.co.uk/Savings-Accounts/Fixed-Term-Savings-and-Bonds/1-Year-Regular-Saver-Bond
This regular saver bond is the one I am setting up to replace the Nationwide ones I am loosing. It took me less than 20 mins to apply, register, do the initial transfer via swift payments and set up the SO to go across every month - very impressed
Nationwide are closing some of them long standing accounts at the end of the year. I had a regular saver with Cheshire building society before it was taken over by Nationwide which I think was paying 3% at one time but now only 2% - I am quite emotionally attached to this account as it was the very first one I had when we finally got out of the long dark tunnel and managed to save for the first time ever.
I had an old nationwide loyalty account but the interest rate dropped and dropped until it only pays 1.2% now so instead the money in there was shuffled across in monthly lumps to the Nationwide regular saver paying 2% - this account is also finishing in December although it does not seem to indicate this on the website.
My flex saver paying 5% also finishes in December so that's 3 accounts finishing - hence why I've been researching what else there is - might you the drop in the bank rate means rates may not be what they were previously ...“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove.
