It's not so much that they are smaller, its just that they have to be A rated now minimum, so they have to have more insulation. This is why I ended up with a chest freezer, Samsung make an upright freezer with reasonable capacity, might be worth looking at them for fridge freezer though they are expensive.
Thank you Enterprise, I will look out for Samsung. I have looked once already without much success, they all seem to have too many drawers in fridge, not enough drawers in freezers, not enough shelves in fridge etc, or perhaps I am just too fussy :rotfl:

    Morning all...

Nellie...if you are off freezer shopping....go and look at what all the retailers have to see them in the flesh, but do have a look at ao online....they really are much cheaper...

sometimes the model numbers are slightly different between retailers but you can get a feel for the appliance in store and then purchase it usually much cheaper at ao....and delivery is excellent.

I've used them loads of times with the flats and there are others here who would really recommend them too...sometimes there are codes or cashback sites that they link to so makes it an even better deal.

that explains a mystery we have had for a long while.

we go a new tall freezer with about 6 drawers to match the fridge but it actually has less capacity than the ancient version it replaced - so now we know its due to the insulation.

Our fridge is set at 3 degrees and the freezer at 19 (love LED displays) - errant son worked in a hotel kitchen at the time we got them and he said those were industry standards for temperatures. Although the freezer has less capacity now we can store things for much longer in the fridge without spoilage

Yes I would recommend AO.com, price was the lowest for our range cooker, one of the times I actually remembered to go through TCB which was paid out but at a reduced rate because I found and used a code. Overall I got it cheaper doing it that way than the higher cashback rate.

The delivery people were the best we have ever had. :T

I've lost count now of the number of appliances we've bought from AO...certainly in double figures ans we have never had a problem ordering or with the delivery and always in the allotted time slot.

I keep thinking we should look at AO as we need a replacement cooker - we have a slot in built in version so I have to make sure it fits the space. It also needs to have a separate grill oven above the main oven

The main thing holding us back is that the electrics needs some sort of upgrading, as it is the current oven just cuts out when the electrics are over loaded.

I think its going to be quicker to get an electrician in to do it - it should have been done when the 2nd oven went in about 15 years ago

about 8 years ago our lads were attempting to cook steak and left it to its own devices and of course the steak fat set fire to it but fortunately they put the fire out and it still worked although the knobs were molten - we have waited since to make sure they have both def left home for good

The moral of the story is never go away for a nice couple of nights to visit eldest child and leave a 18 year old and a 16 year old in charge and expect your oven to be in the same state as you left you :rotfl:
