Disappearing tweets?

I have noticed that in some of the competitions I retweeted the tweet disappeared after a couple of days. I retweet and the green arrows are there after I tweeted but then a couple of days later it's not showing that I retweeted it. I know I did tetweet it as my comment is still there. Why is that anyone know?

Perhaps the original has been removed.

This is normal, twitter caches tweets after 100 or so, it gives you a chance to re do them but the original is still there just you can't see it.

If you are worried fave everything as faves don't get cached as quick.

There used to be topsy search which helped you to check or you retweet.

Now I just search @company @me

Thank you for the explanation Toniq. That makes sense now I was starting to think it might just be a waste of time retweeting if the tweets just end up being deleted.
