Leeds BS mortgage application final underwriting

Hi everyone. Just after a bit of feedback from anyone who's applied for a mortgage with Leeds BS and how the process went for you and if you got asked anything similar.
Our application went in about 4 weeks ago, we had the survey done and then they came back and asked for childcare evidence and the help
To buy form, my mortgage adviser sent this across and today they have come back saying that they need the HTB form and the childcare forms signed and certified and I also had to pay the £35 chaps fee. They said once revived it goes to final underwriting; I'm getting very nervous now as my
Adviser said they are being very picky and I'm worried they are going to throw it back again. Has anyone had anything similar, it's so frustrating as I'm now back to the bottom of the que and it's another 3 working days before they look at it.

  • Hi Scarlett,

Whilst there are never any guarantees when it comes to underwriting, by what you have stated in your post it sounds like you're going through the final motions, and this stage is usually a mere formality.

If your valuation came back satisfactory, then that's certainly a key milestone on the road to offer.

Recently I've found Leeds Building Society as fairly efficient when it comes to underwriting turnaround times, so if you don't hear back by tomorrow afternoon I'd chase up your broker for an update.

    Good Luck!

  • Whilst it is human nature to worry a little, you are doing the right thing in using an intermediary - air your concerns with them and they, not you, will do the worrying (assuming that you have chosen the right one of course)
  • Thank you for your response. I really do
Hope it's just a case of dotting the I and crossing the T's it is worrying as our house has now sold so it's just this final hurdle we need to get over.
    I will chase my
fA tomorrow afternoon if I don't hear anything x

    Hi
We have just got a mortgage from Leeds.
when our application went to the final underwriting after one week they asked for our loan statements and then they seemed to be happy with this and said "offer will be issued within couple of days time and no more documents needed" . And after a week again they asked for my marriage certificate, however on their website it's said it's not needed when you are married more than 3 years. Our broker even needed to complain to the manager, because they already told us they have all documents, but they just replied they won't do anything before they will see my certificate and after I've got it to them, we have received our offer pretty much quickly.

Leeds can be a bit tedious asking for more and more things all the time, but they are fairly efficient and I don't find them picky they are just thorough, good luck with your completion.
