Six years ago today . . .

. . . I anxiously made my way to the court to start my bankruptcy proceedings.

I'm not sure how much difference in practice my bankruptcy falling off my credit file will make, but it feels nice to think it's no longer there.

I used to hate posts like this when I was at the beginning of my journey -- so apologies for that -- but maybe I'm proof you can come out of the other side.

And for all the ups and downs, I'm vastly better off than I was six years ago.

No regrets.

I will be at this stage in a few weeks, does it make much difference to your credit file? Does it mean you can upgrade bank account to a normal currant account etc.

I've actually had a full bank account throughout the last six years. I opened a Santander account just before I went bankrupt. The OR was happy for me to keep it. Santander had no problem with me being bankrupt. A few years later they were happy for me to upgrade it to a 123.

One day after my six year anniversary I applied for a Platinum Barclaycard. I was immediately accepted with a £2,500 credit limit. (Don't worry, I'm not going to use it to borrow money. As much as anything I just wanted to see if I'd be accepted. It felt good to be!)

Well, you could have a currant account if you think you have a good raisin... :)

I am so sorry for this but could not resist (just been on the "it's aitch, not haitch thread)

    Well done, Wolfers!

Thanks, I've had a coop cashminder for last six years and was quite happy with it but since they have changed the online banking it's not great.
Was just thinking of getting a better account if possible.

I had Coop bank accounts through bankruptcy and opened current account with Barclays after my BR "fell off". They were aware of my BR as they were one of my listed. Online banking and pingit have been helpful. Coop online banking not that good, imho!

Next step will be to upgrade my bank account
